Tennessee's Alvin Kamara out vs. South Carolina with knee injury

It's a good news, bad news situation for Tennessee fans.

Running back Alvin Kamara won't play this Saturday against South Carolina, but hopes to avoid having surgery on his knee and return in a couple of weeks.

"He won't be available this week," coach Butch Jones told Patrick Brown of the Times Free Press. "But everything that's come back right now, we do anticipate him being back in a couple of weeks. That's very, very encouraging. He's upbeat and positive."

Kamara injured his knee in the blowout loss to Alabama two weeks ago and many feared it caused serious damage to his LCL and meniscus.

"As of right now he does not need surgery, and we're anticipating him being back here in the next week or two. That's very, very encouraging for us," said Jones.

The junior tailback has tallied 313 yards on 64 carries and three touchdowns this season.
