Texas A&M excited for chance to dethrone college football's king

Despite the fact Texas A&M is ranked sixth in the country and enters Saturday's game against No. 1 Alabama undefeated, the Crimson Tide are still listed as 19-point favorites for the SEC showdown.

The Aggies barely beat Tennessee at home prior to their bye week, while Alabama slammed the Volunteers 49-10 on the road last week. Those results are likely the reason for such a high point spread, but Texas A&M offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor is pumped for his chance to take down college football's king.

"Alabama's been the king of college football for a while now," Eluemunor said to ESPN's Sam Khan Jr. "But like I said before, no king reigns forever. Every dog has their day. I'm really excited and I know my teammates are really excited to get in there and show the country that we're not a pushover team and that we're here."

As for the inflated point spread, the senior tackle is using it as motivation to face off against the Crimson Tide's dominant defense.

"It's annoying to me," Eluemunor said with a laugh. "It's just going to bring the best out of me, because I get to go up against the best - well, the second-best D-line in the country because our D-line is the best - but I'm excited to go up against the players they have because they have great players and it's a great stage."

Head coach Kevin Sumlin isn't affected by the high number in the betting line, noting the Aggies haven't paid attention to any of those totals all year.

"We haven't been motivated by that all year," Sumlin said. "Somebody asked me, 'Well nobody gives you a chance.' Well, I guess it's a good thing nobody's playing."

A positive for Texas A&M this season has been the play of graduate transfer Trevor Knight. The senior quarterback has tasted success against Nick Saban and Alabama in his only previous meeting with the program at the 2014 Sugar Bowl. Knight, then a member of Oklahoma, threw for 348 yards and four scores in the Sooners' 45-31 win.
