Iowa wide receiver Matt VandeBerg will miss an indefinite period of time due to a foot injury sustained in practice, the team announced Tuesday.

The Hawkeyes didn't offer details of the injury, but Tom Kakert of Rivals reported Monday that VandeBerg broke his foot.

"It is unfortunate that Matt will miss some time due to his injury," head coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement. "We know that Matt will work extremely hard to get back on the field as soon as possible. We feel confident that some of our younger receivers will step up in Matt’s absence."

VandeBerg leads Iowa with 19 receptions for 284 yards and three touchdowns. The senior made headlines earlier this year when he proposed to his girlfriend after a game.
