Urban Meyer expects Torrance Gibson back following suspension

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

A day after Ohio State announced highly touted receiver Torrance Gibson was suspended for the season, head coach Urban Meyer says he doesn't expect the redshirt freshman to transfer.

Meyer, who immediately disagreed with the suspension for a violation of the school's student code of conduct, dismissed talk of a possible transfer during Tuesday's conference call.

"Zero indication he wants to leave," Meyer told reporters. "His focus is to be the best possible Buckeye he could be."

Gibson came to Ohio State as the 16th-ranked player in the country in the 2015 recruiting class, and was expected to provide some explosive-play potential in the 2016 season.

The Buckeyes open the campaign against Bowling Green on Saturday.
