Harbaugh tight-lipped on who'll start for Michigan vs. Hawaii

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh knows who he'll start at quarterback this week when the Wolverines host Hawaii, he's just not letting anyone else know.

"Yeah, we know who our starting quarterback is, yes," Harbaugh said Monday at his weekly news conference. "I'll say who our starting quarterback is before Saturday."

Wilton Speight, John O'Korn, and Shane Morris have been competing for the position and Harbaugh has been pleased with what he's seen from the three.

"It's been very good, really, from day one. The competition at the quarterback position has been very good," said Harbaugh. "It's been improving, as well, daily, weekly. All the quarterbacks are playing at a very high level."

While the coach isn't revealing a name, he did suggest what he's looking for in his quarterback.

"The things that would really translate to the game, in terms of moving the team, moving the offense. Putting drives together, making first downs, converting third downs, getting the team into the end zone. Avoiding the turnovers and the mistakes that hurt drives and keep points off the board."

All three have limited experience; O'Korn started for a year-and-a-half while at Houston, Morris has just two starts at Michigan. Meanwhile, Speight led Michigan to a comeback victory last year against Minnesota.

Like nearly everything involved with Harbaugh, it's never dull and always different.
