Iowa's Jon Wisnieski: Dealing with MCL sprain

Wisnieski (knee) remains sidelined with a sprained MCL, Marc Morehouse of the Cedar Rapids Gazette reports.

Analysis:

The tight end sustained a knee injury in practice before Iowa's Aug. 13 scrimmage and he has yet to return to the field since. Although George Kittle has the starting spot locked up at tight end, the Hawkeyes need depth at the position, which makes Wisnieski's injury potentially worrisome if he continues to miss time. Head coach Kirk Ferentz has yet to release a timeline for Wisnieski's return, but if he's still not practicing by the end of the week, his status for Week 1 could be in question.
