Mississippi's Jordan Wilkins: Ruled academically ineligible

Wilkins has been ruled academically ineligible for the 2016 season, David Brandt of the Associated Press reports.

Analysis:

Wilkins was slated to compete for a starting running back job for the upcoming season, but with this latest news, it appears Akeem Judd will be the top option for the Rebels in the backfield. Wilkins, a redshirt junior, rushed for 379 yards and four touchdowns over 13 games last year, but will now have to take some time off to get his grades back to where they need to be. Wilkins will be available for the 2017 season, which should be his last year of eligibility.
