Report: Big 12 likely to expand by 2, will talk to 17 schools
It's looking like the Big 12 will only expand by two schools rather than four, according to Brett McMurphy of ESPN.
Moving from it's current 10-team league to 12 will create two divisions of six for the conference. Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby will talk to as many as 17 schools to garner information on which two programs will be best suited for the conference.
While it's not known which schools make the list of 17, Boise State, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Houston, Memphis, Tulane, UCF, UConn, USF, Temple, and BYU have expressed interest.
BYU has been in the news lately for it's school honor code policy, which has caused a stir among some groups.
No date has been set for the announcement but the conference has revealed it would like to settle the expansion issue before the start of the 2016 season.
