4-star DE Deonte 'D.J.' Johnson commits to Miami

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Miami added another member to its family Monday as four-star defensive end Deonte Johnson announced his commitment to the Hurricanes.

Known as "DJ," the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder made his announced in a video entitled "DJ Johnson's Crazy Day."

The video shows Johnson receiving a phone call from someone who says, "it's commitment day." Johnson is then persuaded by friends wearing Texas, Oregon, and UCLA sweaters to commit to their respective schools. He then walks outside and is met by another friend who hands him something, and the video cuts to Johnson wearing a T-shirt and hat that feature the Miami logo.

"It's all about the U, baby," Johnson says, before the clip cuts to a highlight package of Johnson's best high school plays, and of Sean Taylor, a former Hurricanes player, first-team All-American, and 2003 Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year who was murdered by an intruder in 2007.

Johnson is ranked 30th on the ESPN 300 for the 2017 class and is the third-ranked defensive end in the country. Johnson also had offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and UCLA among others.
