Ohio State dismisses running back Bri'onte Dunn for violating team rules

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer announced Monday that running back Bri'onte Dunn has been dismissed from the program for violating team rules.

“Bri’onte Dunn has been dismissed from the Ohio State football program for a violation of team rules," Meyer said in a statement.

Dunn was expected to help fill the void of Ezekiel Elliott, who left for the NFL. Coming out of spring practice Meyer was hoping Dunn would win the running back battle over redshirt freshman Mike Weber.

"Well Bri'onte's a senior, so I'd like to see him take that first swing," said the Buckeyes' coach.

Last season, the Canton, Ohio native had 14 carries for 91 yards in nine games played. In his three-year career, Dunn recorded 291 yards and three touchdowns.

Dunn graduated in May with a degree in Sport Industry and has one more year of eligibility.
