Auburn's Malzahn says players arrested in April won't be suspended

The case of four Auburn players arrested for marijuana possession is closed in the mind of Gus Malzahn.

The Tigers' bench boss announced Monday that Byron Cowart, Carlton Davis III, Ryan Davis, and Jeremiah Dinson will not be suspended from the team after serving their punishments.

"Those four young men made a mistake. We punished them, and they won't miss any time. That's behind us," Malzahn added after disclosing the fate of the players involved in the incident.

The players were charged with second-degree marijuana possession on April 31, according to the police report obtained by Tom Green of the Opelika-Auburn News.

Carlton Davis played a major role on the Tigers last season, registering 56 tackles to go along with three interceptions. Cowart played in every game at defensive end as a true freshman last season, while Ryan Davis and Dinson both saw mixed time after the latter's season ended as a result of knee surgery.
