West Virginia's David Sills to transfer to junior college

Ben Queen / USA TODAY Sports

West Virginia quarterback David Sills will leave the program and head to junior college, head coach Dana Holgorsen confirmed to DK Pittsburgh Sports' Matt Welch.

"We appreciate everything David has done for the Mountaineer football program," Holgorsen said. "He has done everything asked of him and has been a great teammate. He has decided to transfer to pursue his dream of playing quarterback in college. We wish him nothing but the best in all of his future endeavors on and off the field."

Sills played sparingly in 2015 as a freshman, but not at quarterback. He was used as a receiver and the Mountaineers felt his athleticism translated well to the position.

West Virginia is bringing former Florida standout Will Grier into the fold, so Sills' chances of playing behind center in Morgantown were slim.
