Washington's Isaiah Renfro leaving team, reveals mental health battle

Wide receiver Isaiah Renfro said he's leaving Washington after just one season to address mental health issues, which include bouts with depression and anxiety.

"This year has to be one of the toughest times I've had to endure in my life," Renfro wrote on Twitter. "While going through this year I have struggled with depression and anxiety. Everyday it's very hard for me to just do a simple thing and get out of bed in the morning. This entire year I have pushed through and gave it my all, till I had none left."

Renfro appeared in all 13 of Washington's games last year, recording 13 receptions for 178 yards.

In his post, Renfro revealed he spent Huskies spring practice in a hospital, learning how to cope with his problems. He said he doesn't intend to remain enrolled at Washington, and will not look to resume his football career elsewhere.

"This isn't the end of me, just the end of a certain chapter. I will conquer this, and not let this situation conquer me. I'm on a journey to find my happiness again," Renfro ended his post.
