Karl Dunbar is the new defensive line coach at Alabama.

The program officially announced Dunbar's appointment Thursday, several days after his name filled the rumor mill at Alabama.

"We have known Karl Dunbar for a long time and he has a lot of experience coaching the defensive line in both the NFL and college," said head coach Nick Saban. "Karl is very familiar with our program from an organizational standpoint as well as the defensive scheme we run. He is a fantastic football coach who brings a wealth of coaching experience while being a great asset in recruiting."

The 48-year-old replaces Bo Davis, who resigned following an inquiry into potential recruiting violations.

Dunbar most recently worked for the Buffalo Bills, who fired him in March. He previously worked with Nick Saban at LSU in the early 2000s.
