Tom Herman throws shade at SMU during banquet
Tom Herman has only been at Houston for one full season, but he's certainly got a firm grasp on who the Cougars' rivals are.
During a speech to the Rotary Club, Herman took the opportunity to throw some shade at local rival SMU.
"There's a price to pay for 9-win seasons and prices for 8,7, 6-win seasons," Herman said to the crowd when talking about the commitment to a championship. "Those prices are a lot easier to pay, and if you're satisfied with going 7-5 and going to Poulan Weedeater Bowl then great. I hear there's a private school up in Dallas that's really looking to try to get to 7 wins."
That "private school up in Dallas" is certainly a shot at the Mustangs' program that hasn't posted a 7-plus win season since moving to the American conference in 2013. Houston conversely, went 13-1 in Herman's first season at the helm, winning the conference championship and knocking off Florida State in the Peach Bowl.
Houston may not be in a Power 5 conference just yet, but Herman's troll game is certainly at the highest level in the sport.
