Providence gained some new fans ahead of its Saturday night matchup with No. 1 North Carolina, in the form of the Tar Heels' ACC rival Miami.

After dispatching Wichita State in the first game of the day to clinch a spot in the Sweet 16, the Hurricanes left a good luck note to the Friars ahead of their contest with the Tar Heels.

The connection to Providence is through head coach Jim Larranaga, who played for the Friars from 1968-71 and ranks 25th on the program's career points list.
