VIDEO: Duke's Grayson Allen crushes Virginia's hopes at the buzzer

Duke's Grayson Allen is becoming the next one - the next despised Duke basketball player - and around Durham, N.C., that's quite a compliment.

J.J. Redick, Greg Paulus, Jon Scheyer, and of course poster boy Christian Laettner have all held the distinction before. They played the game hard, with swagger, and came through in the clutch, especially against conference rivals.

Allen is checking off all of the boxes. On Monday, he stuck out his leg in an attempt to trip Louisville's Raymond Spalding, drawing comparisons to Laettner's foot stomp on Aminu Timberlake of Kentucky in 1992.

Saturday, it was time to crush Virginia's hopes of winning its first game at Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1995.

With the Cavaliers leading by one with under eight seconds remaining, Allen drove down the lane and with one hand, losing his balance, threw it up off the glass and in for the victory.

In the postgame handshake, Virginia coach Tony Bennett told Mike Krzyzewski he thought Duke got a favorable call. Krzyzewski disagreed.
