Monmouth beats Siena for 5th straight win

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Justin Robinson had 23 points, Deon Jones scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half and Monmouth beat Siena 85-69 on Monday for its fifth straight win.

Monmouth started the first and second halves with 15-4 runs - the latter for a 56-40 lead. Robinson, Jones and Micah Seaborn each made a 3-pointer during the second-half spurt.

Je'lon Hornbeak chipped in 10 points for Monmouth (14-4, 6-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Sophomore Daniel Pillari scored his first career points and finished with seven. Jones was perfect from distance on three attempts and the Hawks made 11 of 26 3-pointers (42 percent).

Nico Clareth led Siena (11-7, 4-3) with 15 points. Brett Bisping and Javion Ogunyemi added 14 points apiece, and the duo combined for 18 boards as the Saints outrebounded Monmouth 44-30.

Monmouth forced 21 turnovers, leading to 26 points.
