Oklahoma's Buddy Hield odds-on favorite for Naismith Trophy

Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield's 46-point performance on the road against the No. 1 team in the country has caught the attention of oddsmakers, as the senior is the favorite to win Naismith College Player of the Year.

Following Hield's incredible performance, he tops Bovada's latest odds for the annual award at even money. Next on the list is LSU's Ben Simmons at 2/1, followed by Providence's Kris Dunn and Michigan State's Denzel Valentine, both at 7/1.

The Bahamas native is second in the country averaging 26.3 points per game for the second-ranked Sooners, and could become the third player from outside the United States to win the award after Jamaica's Patrick Ewing and Australia's Andrew Bogut. Simmons could also hold that distinction, as the talented freshman hails from Australia.

LSU and Oklahoma meet on Jan. 30 in a contest that could go a long way toward deciding the winner of the coveted prize.
