Kentucky's Dominique Hawkins out 4 weeks with broken hand

Kentucky guard Dominique Hawkins is expected to miss four weeks after suffering a broken bone in his hand, the school announced Monday.

The junior has played in 56 career games, averaging 1.3 points per game.

"I really feel bad to have to report this because Dom was playing so well," head coach John Calipari said. "He was so much more confident, so much more skilled. There was no doubt he was in the rotation, and now he’s just got to get back and stay in shape.

"We’re looking forward to getting him back in November."

Hawkins will have surgery Tuesday, and assuming he suffers no setbacks, he should continue to be a defensive specialist who provides energy off the Wildcats' bench.
