Report: 5-star Kentucky commit Jamal Murray turned down 7-figure pro contract

Five-star guard Jamal Murray reportedly shafted a large contract to play college ball for John Calipari.

Roger Murray, his father, told Hoops Hype Canada that his son turned down a one-year professional contract worth seven figures in favor of committing to Kentucky. The elder Murray did not specify who offered his son the contract.

The highly sought member of the 2015 recruiting class committed to the Wildcats at a press conference June 24, joining fellow five-star recruits Skal Labissiere and Isaiah Briscoe.

Murray reclassified from the class of 2016 to hit the hardwood earlier after finishing high school in Orangeville, Ont.

But the 6-foot-5 combo guard may not be far away from another contract. Murray is projected as the 16th overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.
