2nd-half surge pushes Oklahoma past Dayton
A big second-half run pushed Oklahoma past Dayton and into the Sweet Sixteen with a 72-66 victory on Sunday.
The Flyers led 52-45 with 11:55 to go in the fourth quarter, but suddenly their offense went cold. Dayton didn't hit another field goal for more than 10-and-a-half minutes while the Sooners put together a 17-4 run to move in front.
From there it was academic, as Oklahoma closed out Dayton's season and will move on to meet Michigan State in the next round.
Jordan Woodard and Buddy Hield paced the Sooners with 16 and 15 points apiece, while Hield chipped in five assists and an incredible block.
Scoochie Smith was the Flyers' leading scorer with 16 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Darrell Davis chipped in 15 points off the bench but was victimized on Hield's late block.
With the win, Oklahoma's Lon Kruger became just the second coach all-time to coach four different teams into the Sweet Sixteen.
