1:11 a.m. ET (Bottero) - That's all for today. Check back in less than 11 hours for more live-blogging action from Day 2 of the Round of 64.

1:10 a.m. ET (Bottero) - 4 Georgetown 84, 13 Eastern Washington 56 Final

1:09 a.m. ET (Bottero) - Ugh. A late dunk with less than two seconds remaining ups Georgetown's lead to 10 points. The Hoyas were 8-point betting favorites.

1:04 a.m. ET (Bottero) - That Georgetown turnover just burned under bettors. The Hoyas had a chance to dribble out the clock and keep the game under the number.

12:51 a.m. ET (Bottero) - Eastern Washington's cut the lead to 10.

12:45 a.m. ET (Bottero) - Eastern Washington's cut Georgetown's lead to 70-58 with less than four minutes remaining, and all the timeouts are being used now.

12:39 a.m. ET (Bottero) - Eastern Washington making a little but of noise against Georgetown. Still trailing by 13 inside of six minutes.

12:34 a.m. ET (Bottero) - For those that like to put money down on the games, assuming there's no explosion of points to close out the Georgetown game, the under will have gone 11-4-1 on the day. Two of those overs went to overtime, and another game went over by one point.

12:29 a.m. ET (Bottero) - 1 Kentucky 79, 16 Hampton 56 Final

12:26 a.m. ET (Bottero) - John Calipari sending out the walk-ons with under a minute remaining in Louisville.

12:23 a.m. ET (Bottero) - Louisville had three one-point games prior to the night slate. Don't think Hampton's making that much of a comeback.

12:18 a.m. ET (Bottero) - Cincinnati can't be happy with what it's seeing. Kentucky is right at home in Louisville.

12:13 a.m. ET (Bottero) - The last two games remaining are well in hand. Both Kentucky and Georgetown have leads in excess of 20. Not really in line with what we've seen today.

12:08 a.m. ET (Bottero) - 5 Arkansas 56, 12 Wofford 53 Final

12:07 a.m. ET (Bottero) - Wofford with two good looks from beyond the arc on its final possession but neither fell and Arkansas escapes with a victory.

12:02 a.m. ET (Bottero) - Arkansas forward Alandise Harris gets into the lane and fights through the contact for the and-1 layup. Arkansas leads 55-53 heading into a TV timeout.

11:57 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Wofford leads Arkansas 50-49 with 3:41 remaining and will go tot he line after the TV timeout.

11:54 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Yeah, it's been quite a day.

11:50 p.m. ET (Bottero) - The Terriers refusing to go away. They lead Arkansas 46-44.

11:45 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Wofford shooting 34 percent from the field. Arkansas shooting 43.6 percent from the field. Wofford leads 44-42.

11:44 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Michael Qualls shooting 7-of-8 from the field, the rest of the Razorbacks are 10-of-31.

11:43 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Arkansas guard Michael Qualls has had enough of trailing Wofford.

Michael Qualls has some decent hops

11:41 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Georgetown taking a 43-33 lead into the half against Eastern Washington.

11:38 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Doesn't look like Georgetown has much to worry about anymore. The Hoyas lead Eastern Washington 43-31 late int he first half. Still, there was a time when they got a little worried.

No flagrant here. Thoughts?

11:32 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Five one-point games in a single day is an NCAA tournament record.

11:27 p.m. ET (Bottero)8 NC State 66, 9 LSU 65 Final

11:26 p.m. ET (Bottero) - An awkward final possession for NC State but it pays off in a big way. The ball gets worked to Beejay Anya in the lane and he hits on a hook shot to put the Wolfpack ahead 66-65 with 0.1 seconds remaining.

Again, a huge shot hangs on the rim ... Best opening #MarchMadness day ever? #NCState tops #LSU at the buzzer, BJ Anya going lefty!

11:25 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Setting up for a thrilling finish in the 8-9 matchup between NC State and LSU. LSU leads 65-64 and NC State calls timeout with the basketball and 13 seconds remaining.

11:24 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Eastern Washington making some noise against Georgetown. The Eagles lead 26-21 with seven minutes remaining in the first half.

Tyler Harvey looking like Steph Curry

11:21 p.m. ET (Bottero) - LSU in a lot of trouble as the team can't seem to hit its free throws all of a sudden. The Tigers have missed six in a row from the line. Still a three-point game and the Wolfpack have the basketball.

11:20 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Things are really getting interesting in Pittsburgh. LSU leads 65-62 and NC State has the basketball with a chance to tie with 1:25 to play.

11:16 p.m. ET (Bottero) - NC State's not ready to call it quits just yet.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

11:11 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Kentucky taking a 41-22 lead into the break in Louisville.

11:09 p.m. ET (Bottero) - NC State clawing its way back into that game in Pittsburgh. The Wolfpack trails by just four points with five minutes to play.

11:04 p.m. ET (Bottero) - In the super late start, Georgetown having some trouble with Eastern Washington early one. That game's tied 7-7 just under six minutes in.

11:00 p.m. ET (Bottero) - It was a fun ride while it lasted. Kentucky out in front of Hampton 30-14.

10:56 p.m. ET (Bottero) - With the loss by Stephen F. Austin, teams from the state of Texas went 0-5 today.

10:54 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Both teams are shooting under 40 percent in Louisville. Kentucky leads Hampton 22-14.

10:52 p.m. ET (Bottero) - And Wofford will take that 28-27 lead into the break. Gotta watch out for those 5-12 matchups.

10:48 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Wofford putting Arkansas on notice in the 5-12 matchup. Terriers lead the Razorbacks 28-27 heading into a timeout with 21 seconds remaining in the first half.

10:43 p.m. ET (Bottero) - The footwear needs in Arkansas are different than your own.

Who needs shoes?

10:39 p.m. ET (Bottero) - One of the other SEC teams in action, Arkansas, making a bit of a run of its own. The Razorbacks have outscored Wofford 7-0 to move in front of the Terriers, 20-18.

10:37 p.m. ET (Bottero) - It was just a matter of time before Kentucky went on a bit of a run. The Wildcats now lead 18-11.

10:32 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Kentucky's Trey Lyles taking this game against Hampton seriously.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

10:27 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Seriously, it happened. Hampton led Kentucky.

10:25 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Eastern Washington and Georgetown's start time pushed back to 10:50 p.m. ET.

10:23 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Hampton leads Kentucky 4-3 in Louisville.

10:22 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Utah forward Jakob Poeltl with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-7 shooting.

10:20 p.m. ET (Bottero) - 5 Utah 57, 12 Stephen F. Austin 50 Final

10:18 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Utah finally ready to close out Stephen F. Austin (for real this time). Utah leads 55-50 and is heading to the line for two shots with 7.3 seconds remaining.

10:13 p.m. ET (Bottero) - There will be a lot of points scored in the 8-9 matchup between NC State and LSU, but the Wolfpack can't feel good about going into the break trailing 40-26.

10:08 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Spoke too soon. The Lumberjacks knock down a triple to make it a one possession game. Utes lead 52-49 with just over a minute to play.

10:05 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Utah's let Stephen F. Austin hang around long enough. Looking like the Utes are finally ready to put this one away.

10:00 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Arkansas and Wofford underway in Jacksonville in a 5-12 matchup.

9:58 p.m. ET (Bottero) - LSU has a 31-20 lead over NC State in Pittsburgh. Plenty of points were expected in that one, so no need to get too concerned yet.

Jarell Martin with the MONSTER put back slam #LSU #MarchMadness

9:53 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Utah letting Stephen F. Austin hang around in Portland. The Utes lead 48-40 despite shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three compared with the Lumberjacks' 35.0 percent shooting from the field and 22.2 percent shooting from three.

9:49 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Think today's been wild? Well it absolutely has been. Today's slate has tied the record for most one-point finishes in a single day of the NCAA tournament.

9:47 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Purdue finishes that game shooting 4-of-26 (15.4 percent) from beyond the arc.

9:46 p.m. ET (Bottero) - 8 Cincinnati 66, 9 Purdue 65 Final

9:45 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Cincinnati fails to hit from the line and Purdue has a chance to win it but a 3-point attempt from the left elbow doesn't fall, and the Bearcats will advance.

9:42 p.m. ET (Bottero) - A long possession by Purdue that featured an offensive rebound and a good look from three, finally ends with Octeus laying the ball in for two. Cincinnati leads by one with 6.9 seconds remaining.

9:39 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Purdue and Cincinnati just exchanging miss after miss before the Bearcats finally get in for two. It's Cobb extending Cincinnati's lead to 66-63. Purdue takes a timeout with 21.8 seconds remaining in the extra session.

9:35 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Another look at the play that sent the game in Louisville to overtime.

Five. More. Minutes.

9:32 p.m. ET (Bottero) - They're underway in Pittsburgh on what should be a high-scoring game between NC State and LSU.

9:29 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Cincinnati's Troy Caupain goes end-to-end and lays it in at the buzzer to force overtime and keep the Bearcats alive.

Count it for Cincy! Overtime we go

9:27 p.m. ET (Bottero) - A defensive breakdown by Harvard allowed North Carolina an easy dunk on the runway, and the Crimson just couldn't find any more magic on their final possession. A valiant effort by Harvard. Roy Williams is now 25-0 in the Round of 64.

9:26 p.m. ET (Bottero)4 North Carolina 67, 13 Harvard 65 Final

9:24 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Cincinnati refusing to let Purdue off the hook. They've been back-and-forth for a while and it's a one-point game with under 10 seconds to play.

9:22 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Siyani Chambers, after Harvard spent the first 20 seconds of the shot clock trying to get the ball into the hands of Wesley Saunders, steps up and knocks down a clutch triple while getting fouled. He steps to the line and hits to give the Crimson a 65-63 lead.

9:20 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Harvard's Wesley Saunders knocks down a jumper and Siyani Chambers comes up with a steal on the ensuing possession. Tommy Amaker takes a timeout with his team in position to tie the game.

9:18 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Harvard cuts the lead to one in Jacksonville but Marcus Paige goes the other way and knocks down a triple to get North Carolina's lead back p to four.

9:15 p.m. ET (Bottero) - In Louisville, Purdue in position to put that game away. The Boilermakers have a five-point lead with 48 seconds remaining and are heading to the line for a 1-and-1.

9:11 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Things are starting to go Harvard's way. It's now a three-point game and the Crimson have the basketball.

9:09 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Wesley Saunders doing all he can to single-handedly keep Harvard in it against North Carolina. He's shooting 7-of-12 from the field, the rest of the team is 11-of-35.

9:07 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Georgia State guard Ryan Harrow is doubtful for Saturday's game against Xavier, head coach Ron Hunter told Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. The Panthers will have a tough time continuing the magic without him.

9:02 p.m. ET (Murphy) - It's a tough night for A.J. Hammons despite nine points and five rebounds. Not only was he the recipient of Ellis' flagrant elbow earlier, he's also taking passes off the face.

AJ should have used his Handmons

8:57 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Maybe Octavius Ellis' import was overstated, or his ejection was a point to rally around for the Bearcats. They're hanging tough, down 42-41 with 7:50 to play. The slow pace and low-scoring nature of this one is preventing the Boilermakers from pulling away.

No. 1 Villanova d. No. 16 Lafayette, 93-52
8:53 p.m. ET (Murphy) -
Finally, it's over. Dan Trist led the Leopards with 18 points and nine rebounds and was the only player on the team not to cry. The Wildcats had eight different players score at least seven points and six score in double-figures, topped by Canadian Dylan Ennis with 16 points and five dimes.

8:51 p.m. ET (Murphy) - J.P. Tok-OH!-to just came through with a ridiculous putback slam against Harvard. UNC is up 52-41 but things may not be as secure as the score would indicate - with 12:12 to play, Harvard is already in the bonus, and Brice Johnson and Tokoto each have three fouls for the Heels.

J.P. Tokoto with the monster jam! #UNC #MarchMadness northcarolina.scout.com

8:48 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Utah's smothering defense is working wonders against Stephen F. Austin, with the Utes up 26-15 with under two minutes to go in the first half. The Lumberjacks are shooting 31.6 percent, have two offensive rebounds and haven't been to the line yet.

8:45 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Somebody needs to throw in the towel for Lafayette. This is Drago-Creed levels of brutal. It's 92-50. Just send the kids home.

8:33 p.m. ET (Murphy) - This was really, really dumb. Octavius Ellis just got himself ejected from Cincinnati's game against Purdue early in the second half, for no obvious reason. Just got fed up and threw a forearm. That was enough for a Flagrant 2 and an ejection, and now the Bearcats are without their leading scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker.

Yeah Ellis, you can't do that. Wow

The Bearcats are down 35-30 and are now tasked with making a comeback without their best player. Nice discipline, rook.

8:29 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Delon Wright is a bad, bad man. He's probably just mad he wasn't among the Player of the Year finalists, because he had a damn good case. That's bad news for the Lumberjacks.

Delon Wright doing the damn thing.

8:25 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Do you feel bad for Lafayette? You should feel bad for Lafayette. They're down 75-34 and they still have 12 more minutes of this to go. Mercy Rule coming into effect. All eight Wildcats who have played have at least seven points.

8:14 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Wesley Saunders is doing his best to keep Harvard in it against UNC. He's got 15 of the team's 25 points but they still find themselves stuck 11 at the break. Harvard players other than Saunders were 3-of-20 from the floor. Seriously. Isaiah Hicks leads the Tar Heels with nine.

8:11 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Hey, Utah and Stephen F. Austin finally started! Because of the earlier overtime game, this one started late and Eastern Washington-Georgetown is tracking for a 10:30 p.m. ET tip.

8:02 p.m. ET (Murphy) - We're not sure what exactly J.P. Tokoto did, but Roy Williams isn't happy about it. Maybe it's the lead being chipped down to six at 26-20.

7:53 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Farad Cobb is off to a nice start for the Bearcats with 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting with a pair of triples. The Boilermakers are answering with balance, with seven players scoring between two and six points. It's 25-22 Purdue late in the first. Could this one make history?

7:51 p.m. ET (Murphy) - My co-live-blogger Gino says that OSU-VCU was not an upset because the Buckeyes were a slight Vegas favorite. I'm sticking with 10-over-7 on the bracket being an upset, if not in actual team quality terms then strictly in bracket terms. You'd get upset points on the bracket if your format awarded such bonuses. It's an upset, Gino.

7:50 p.m. ET (Murphy) - UNC has used a nice 13-0 run to pull ahead of the Crimson 21-7 and Villanova is up 49-26 on Lafayette at half. Save us, Purdue-Cincinnati.

7:42 p.m. ET (Murphy) - You really have to feel bad for Yanick Moreira, the SMU player who goaltended the game winning shot, costing the Mustangs a spot in the Round of 32. He's not only taking blame and taking it hard, he's owning up to it to none other than Kevin Durant on Twitter. Poor guy.

7:33 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Okay, games are getting real again in a hurry. Darrun Hilliard II is giving you no time to catch your breath after that OT game.

Impressive back screen action from Villanova.

7:26 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Three games have tipped off while everyone was focused on OSU-VCU in overtime. Villanova has an early 31-13 lead over Lafayette, Cincinnati is up 12-8 on Purdue and UNC has a commanding 3-0 lead on Harvard.

No. 10 Ohio State d. No 7 VCU, 75-72 (OT)
7:22 p.m. ET (Murphy) -
Game, Buckeyes. D'Angelo Russell finishes with 28 points on 10-of-20 shooting and 4-of-7 from long range, with six rebounds, one assist, two steals and two blocks for good measure. The hype is real. Treveon Graham had a 10-10 double-double for the Rams and Melvin Johnson scored 17 off the bench.

7:19 p.m. ET (Murphy) - VCU waited a while to fire, missed a three and then took too long to foul when OSU grabbed the rebound. This one's probably over, with Ohio State shooting free throws, up three, with five seconds left. VCU has a pair of timeouts.

7:15 p.m. ET (Murphy) - It's 73-70 Ohio State. It's Ohio State ball. There are 63 seconds to play. And like I said earlier: Voodoo.

This kid

7:13 p.m. ET (Murphy) -  Keita Bates-Diop hit another three! It's 71-70 Ohio State with 2:10 to play, Buckeyes ball.

7:11 p.m. ET (Murphy) - A double-foul called on Treveon Graham and Jae'Sean Tate sees Tate disqualified with his fifth foul. That's a big loss for the Buckeyes, but VCU immediately threw an inbounds pass out of bounds, so karma's got their backs.

Foul on tate

7:10 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Worth noting: Ohio State was assessed a technical foul for Trey McDonald's jersey number being wrong in the scorebook. VCU made one of the free throws, so it definitely mattered.

7:03 p.m. ET (Murphy) - VCU went with a 2-3 zone to try to prevent a D'Angelo Russell penetration and it worked, with Shannon Scott penetrating instead and missing a layup. VCU then neglected to call a timeout, holding for last shot and missing.

Overtime!

Let's do another five minutes!

7:00 p.m. ET (Murphy) - And there goes any goodwill Amir Williams has built up, as he just coughed up a D'Angelo Russell pass when he wasn't paying attention, leading to a VCU three. It's now 66-66 with 1:15 left.

6:56 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Ohio State got a triple from Keita Bates-Diop, his first of the game and 17th of the season. Things are going well when the role players are reaching their season scoring averages with single shots late in a close game. They also got a contribution from Amir Williams, which is shocking Buckeyes fans everywhere. It's 62-60 for OSU with 2:43 left.

6:52 p.m. ET (Murphy) - After a review, the officials called Brooks' elbow a Flagrant 1. That's two shots for Russell, one of which he made, and possession for Ohio State. They're up 59-58 with 4:56 to play.

6:47 p.m. ET (Murphy) - This is terrible news for Ohio State. D'Angelo Russell just took an elbow to the face guarding a Doug Brooks transition layup on a play that should have been an offensive foul, the third close call that's gone against the Buckeyes in the last few minutes. What's worse, Russell was cut open and may miss a couple possessions getting stitched up.

At least Brooks missed the layup, but this probably could have been called a Flagrant 1.

Whoa. This elbow on D'Angelo looks intentional.

6:44 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Not sure how VIllanova is going to come back from this haymaker about head coach Jay Wright.

6:42 p.m. ET (Murphy) - How does it feel, VCU? Since the 5:07 mark of the first half, D'Angelo Russell has 21 points. It's 58-57 Ohio State with 6:36 to play. Believe the hype.

6:41 p.m. ET (Murphy) - We hope you're enjoying this bit of downtime with only one game on. Tip-offs are coming at 6:50, 7:10, 7:20 and 7:27, give or take. It's about to get real again.

6:34 p.m. ET (Murphy) - VCU's back in the lead in Portland, taking a 54-52 lead with just under nine minutes to play. It's Voodoo's time now, though.

No. 6 Xavier d. No. 11 Ole Miss, 76-57
6:31 p.m. ET (Murphy) - More like Ole Missed-their-chance-to-make-it-to-the-round-of-32. Okay, that was bad, but it's what the Rebels deserved after shooting 32.9 percent against Xavier in an ugly blowout loss on Thursday. Stefan Moody went 5-of-18 for a team-high 14 points and only M.J. Rhett shot over 50 percent. Xavier was led by 23-year-old Matt Stainbrook, who had 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists

6:24 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Hampton has to try something to get fired up for Kentucky. I suppose there are worse ways than channeling Ric Flair, but wouldn't an underdog like Daniel Bryan and his "YES!" chant have been more fitting than the 16-time World Champion?

Hampton seems pretty relaxed with Jeff Goodman for a team that has to take on Kentucky in its next game.

6:22 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Why. Did. You. Let. D'Angelo. Voodoo. Russell. Get. In. His. Zone? Russell now has 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting with two rebounds, two steals and two blocks, and the Buckeyes lead 45-42 with 14:46 to play. He had two points in the game's first 14:52.

6:20 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Bruh, you can't be trying stuff like this stuck 15 points with time running out.

Well...that happened... #Xavier #OleMiss #marchmadness

6:17 p.m. ET (Murphy) - The Musketeers won't be feeling A Different Kind of Blue after Myles Davis connects on his first triple of the game, pushing the Xavier lead back into safe territory. It's 67-52 with four minutes to go.

6:15 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Maybe Xavier didn't have this as wrapped up as we thought. It's coming along slowly, but Ole Miss has chipped the lead back to 10 points with a shade over six minutes to play.

6:13 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Ohio State has come out of the break as hot as they entered it and now hold a three-point lead over VCU. The Rams should not have let Voodoo Russell wake up.

6:05 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Things are starting to get weird in Jacksonville. Matt Stainbrook is getting a little too confident with a 56-42 lead, and his attempt at swagging out caused him to lose his goggles, the least swaggy look imaginable.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

Meanwhile, Xavier's been able to pull ahead because Ole Miss is out here missing dunks, turning Andy Kennedy into your dad when you come home late with booze on your breath.

Ole Miss alright

6:01 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Less up for interpretation is this ridiculous spin move and layup from Trevon Bluiett.

Trevon Bluiett blows past an Ole Miss defender #marchmadness

5:53 p.m. ET (Murphy) - It's me, Blake. I'm back. Look, real talk, I'm a UCLA fan and have changed my mind on the goaltending call a dozen times. Does this help? I don't even know. I have UCLA going to the Sweet Sixteen, so I'm obviously biased, but I'm pretty sure the ball was going to hit rim, even if it had exactly zero chance of going in.

5:49 p.m. ET (Bottero) - The other game, meanwhile, not nearly as exciting. Xavier running away in Jacksonville. Leads Ole Miss 45-32 five minutes into the second half.

5:48 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Ohio State closes the half on a 16-5 run, trails VCU 30-29.

5:44 p.m. ET (Bottero) - D'Angelo Russell's converted on three straight shots from the field, two of which came from beyond the arc. He has 10 points.

5:41 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Ohio State working hard to battle back against VCU. The Buckeyes are now trailing by four, but they need to start converting from the charity stripe, where they're just 2-of-7 thus far.

5:36 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Another look at the goaltending call that put UCLA through to the Round of 32.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

5:31 p.m. ET (Bottero) - D'Angelo Russell with a rough go of it to start, hitting on just one of his first five attempts from the field, but he knocks down a deep triple to prompt a timeout from Shaka Smart. VCU leads 25-18.

5:24 p.m. ET (Bottero) - UCLA did all it could to try and lose that game. What. A. Finish.

5:21 p.m. ET (Bottero)11 UCLA 60, 6 SMU 59 Final

5:20 p.m. ET (Bottero) - A crazy call. UCLA attempts a 3-pointer that's headed wide of the basket, but SMU gets called for goaltending. UCLA leads 60-59 with 13 seconds remaining.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

5:18 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Things are really getting interesting in Louisville. UCLA down two with the ball inside the final 30 seconds.

5:16 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Xavier comfortably ahead of Ole Miss at the half, 36-24.

Hollis-Jefferson shimmey

4:07 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Consider Oklahoma officially on notice. Two No. 3 seeds are already out, and the other No. 3 seed that played today, Notre Dame, narrowly escaped with a victory. The Sooners take on Albany at 7:27 p.m. ET tomorrow.

This is your bracket America

3:55 p.m. ET (Bottero) - If Georgia State keeps on winning, Ron Hunter may not live to see April.

3:54 p.m. ET (Bottero) - A terrible day for the Big 12, with the two upsets thus far - Iowa State and Baylor - both coming out of the conference, and Texas trailing Butler at the half.

3:52 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Ron Hunter sprawled out on the court will be the lasting image from this tournament.

3:51 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Baylor had no plan there. None. Prince chucked up a contested 3-pointer from half court. Down go the Bears.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

3:47 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Dennis splits from the line. It's 56-54 Baylor and Kenny Chery will head to the line with a chance to put the Bears in the clear. He's a solid free throw shooter.

3:45 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Shipes misses the first and Baylor grabs the board. The Panthers foul, but they have fouls to give.

3:44 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Georgia State misses its shot but Shipes grabs the offensive board and gets fouled. He'll head to the line for a 1-and-1.

3:43 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Georgia State plays it straight, elects not to foul, and forces a shot clock violation. They get the ball back down three with 43 seconds remaining.

3:41 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Georgia State steals the inbound pass and scores a quick two. Baylor's lead down to 56-53. The Bears are ahead, but it sure feels like they're the team against the ropes.

Georgia State! Let's go!

3:40 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Baylor would be in a lot of trouble if not for Taurean Prince. He has 18 points and 13 boards off the bench.

3:38 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Georgia State making a little noise against Baylor in the closing moments of that game. The Panthers have cut the lead to five with 1;28 to play.

3:34 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Arizona's Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has a game-high 16 points against Texas Southern, but is forced to take a seat with 16:34 remaining in the second half after picking up his fourth foul.

3:32 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Arizona's Brandon Ashley is 4-of-7 from the field today. He's shooting 71 percent from the field in the month of March.

3:30 p.m. ET (Bottero) - The masked man, Kevon Looney, starts 2-of-3 from the field for four of UCLA's first 10 points.

3:27 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Only 2.9 percent of brackets on CBSSports.com remain perfect with just two games in the books.

3:25 p.m. ET (Bottero) - The second half is underway in Portland with Arizona holding a 54-33 lead over Texas Southern. The Wildcats are on pace for 108 points.

3:24 p.m. ET (Bottero) - If Iowa State's loss hurt your bracket, don't worry too much. 96 percent of Yahoo! bracket submissions had the Cyclones advancing.

3:23 p.m. ET (Bottero) - SMU and UCLA is underway in a 6-11 matchup. UCLA coming out in man-to-man defense which is a little different than what we've come to expect from the way teams have attacked the Mustangs this season.

3:22 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Baylor pulling away from Georgia State now. The Bears lead 49-42.

3:20 p.m. ET (Bottero) - UAB head coach Jerod Haase receives a $37,500 bonus with his team's upset over Iowa State.

3:16 p.m. ET (Bottero) - After Stanley Johnson's monster dunk, Reggie Miller said "we may be seeing the reincarnation of LeBron James." So much wrong with that. Why do they still let him do this.

3:11 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Hopefully Michigan State's shooting gets better by tomorrow.

Dream big or don't even bother to try and dunk the basketball, eh? Not-quite-dunks from Michigan State's practice session ...

3:07 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Baylor really pressing the issue. It's resulted in 15 Bears turnovers, but when it works out, boy has it been sweet.

Taurean Prince alley oop #MarchMadness

3:04 p.m. ET (Bottero) - Georgia State making some noise in Jacksonville. The Panthers have taken a 41-40 lead over No. 3 seed Baylor.

3:01 p.m. ET (Murphy) - It might be a blowout but that doesn't mean it's not entertaining. Stanley Johnson is outchea cramming on Texas Southern, even if their defenders want no part of the poster.

Stanley Johnson, oh my

2:51 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Technically, Arizona and Texas Southern are still playing. Functionally, the Wildcats have a 40-22 lead and the Tigers can't hang, so it's safe to keep your attention on Baylor-Georgia State as it comes out of half. Texas and Butler just tipped off, too. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, known more for his defense than scoring, is 3-of-3 for 10 points with six rebounds for Arizona.

No. 14 UAB d. No. 3 Iowa State, 60-59
2:43 p.m. ET (Murphy) -
Iowa State gets a terrific look but Naz Long misses the open triple. Monte Morris tips in the rebound but two is not enough. UAB scores the tournament's first upset. Robert Brown leads the way with a game-high 21 points and William Lee goes 14-and-12 with some terrific defense. Georges Niang shot 4-of-15 for the Cyclones, finishing with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Jameel McKay went 10-and-12 with six blocks and Iowa St. shot 6-of-23 overall from long range.

2:40 p.m. ET (Murphy) - William Lee comes through again with great defense, sealing off a Georges Niang baseline attempt and gathering the rebound. He hit both free throws to go up 60-57, and Iowa State will inbound in UAB territory with 7.5 seconds to play. UAB still has two fouls to give.

2:38 p.m. ET (Murphy) - After the teams trade a pair of buckets, UAB commits a foul on the floor with 17.1 seconds to play. They're not in the bonus, so Iowa State has possession, stuck 58-57.

2:36 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Bang. Robert Brown hits a triple to put UAB up 56-55 with 50.6 seconds to play. That's just the third three of the game for the Blazers, all coming from Brown, who has a game-high 21 points.

2:35 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Shots are bad, mkay? Jameel McKay just erased a Denzell Watts jumper, his sixth block of the game to go along with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Iowa State remains up 55-53 with the possession arrow and three timeouts with 52.9 seconds to play.

2:34 p.m. ET (Murphy) - William Lee is everywhere. He hauls in an offensive rebound, puts it back and-one (but ball don't lie) to not only pull the Blazers within two but also get a fourth foul on Georges Niang.

2:32 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Gorgeous Georges gets blocked by William Lee but UAB follows with an offensive foul, giving Iowa St. the ball back. It's 55-51 Cyclones with two minutes to play.

2:29 p.m. ET (Murphy) - R.J. Hunter just turned heel, hitting Kenny Chery with a dastardly eye poke. Ric Flair would be proud. Baylor leads 33-30 at the half.

2:24 p.m. ET (Murphy) - We'll be coming down to the wire in Louisville, too. Iowa State has a narrow 53-51 lead on UAB with 3:47 to play. Keep your dial there - Baylor and Georgia State are about to hit halftime and Arizona is already up 15-2 on Texas Southern.

No. 3 Notre Dame d. No. 14 Northeastern, 69-65
2:20 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Zach Auguste knocks down two free throws with 1.9 seconds on the clock to seal the game for the Fighting Irish. He finished with 25 points and five rebounds, Jerian Grant had 17-3-5 and Demetrius Jackson had 9-4-8 with two steals, two blocks and likely a black eye. Scott Eatherton led the Huskies with 18-and-8. This old lady is the game's MVP.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

2:18 p.m. ET (Murphy) - A sloppy Notre Dame outlet led to a turnover, giving Northeastern a chance, but after dribbling out almost the entire clock looking for a clean look, the Huskies coughed up the ball and any chance at scoring the upset.

2:16 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Northeastern has the lead all the way down to two. It's 67-65 Notre Dame with 32.5 seconds tom play. Both teams are in the bonus but the Huskies have no timeouts left.

2:15 p.m. ET (Murphy) - To score an upset, you need to do three things; Force turnovers, shoot threes and hit the offensive glass. Check that last box, Chris Cokley.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

2:13 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Iowa State and UAB continue to trade baskets at a criminally slow pace. It's 42-41 Cyclones with 9:54 to play. Matt Thomas inexplicably leads Iowa State with 11 points in 16 minutes, despite playing just 17 minutes in total in the Big 12 tournament.

2:12 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Yessssss. Four games on at once now that Arizona and Texas Southern have tipped off in Portland. This is what we live for.

2:10 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Northeastern isn't going quietly into that good night. They've got Notre Dame's lead down to 65-61 with 2:01 to play.

2:09 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Georgia State has slowly chipped away at Baylor's lead, cutting it to a 22-21 mark. Slowing the pace and protecting the rim have been two keys, as T.J. Shipes demonstrates here:

T.J. Shipes not making it easy for Baylor #MarchMadness

2:08 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Demetrius Jackson just ate a Flair chop to the face from Zach Stahl, who inadvertently clipped him following through on a pass. Jackson has nine points, four rebounds, eight assists and some ice on his right cheek on the bench.

2:05 p.m. ET (Murphy) - UAB has stopped scoring. That's going to make it difficult for them to finish off their upset of Iowa State. The Cyclones have taken back a one-point lead thanks to a 6-2 run to start the second half ... that's come over 6:16 of play. Part of that is UAB grinding down the pace to shorten the game, but they have to score at some point.

2:03 p.m. ET (Murphy) -  Five points and four rebounds in eight minutes, Rico Gathers, tell 'em where you from.

1:57 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Notre Dame is beginning to pull away from Northeastern, taking a 60-49 lead with 6:24 to play. Zach Auguste has 23 points, Jerian Grant has 15 with four assists and Demetrius Jackson has eight dimes. Northeastern has been game but there's a huge talent gap to make up for. And Jackson is that dude.

You cannot do anything performed in this video.

It's also a huge gap in sock quality.

1:52 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Kevin Ware's back!

1:51 p.m. ET (Murphy) - No surprise here, but Rico Gathers is a problem early for Georgia State. The world's strongest man has four points and two rebounds in short order and is basically doing what he wants.

1:47 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter, who tore his Achilles in the Sun Belt championship, wasn't going to miss an NCAA tournament game just because he's on one leg.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

1:44 (Murphy) - We're there. We've reached the three-TV portion of the day, as Georgia St. and Baylor have now tipped off in Jacksonville. Shout out to Isaiah Austin.

1:41 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Zach Auguste has 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting for the Fighting Irish but has hit the bench with three fouls. He'll likely be back on the floor with eight minutes or so to play, as the 6-foot-10 forward isn't generally a foul-out threat, averaging a personal foul every 9.7 minutes on the year.

1:39 p.m. ET (Murphy) - If Notre Dame fans were worried about life after Jerian Grant, they may want to start a campaign to keep Demetrius Jackson from entering the draft, too. The sophomore's having a nice Round of 64 game, dishing six assists with four points, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Notre Dame leads 48-43 with 13:07 to play.

1:35 p.m. ET (Murphy) - No. 14 Georgia State would have been in tough against No. 3 Baylor no matter what, but they'll now be tasked with playing David without Ryan Harrow, who will sit with a hamstring injury. Kevin Ware, back in the tournament two years after suffering a gruesome leg injury with Louisville, will draw the start in Harrow's stead.

1:31 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Northeastern may want to find David Walker a bit more. With Notre Dame pulling out to a 41-32 lead early in the second half, Walker hit another jumper and is now 3-of-3 for eight points. He has four assists, too, having a hand in 17 of the team's 32 points.

1:28 p.m. ET (Murphy) - UAB's been notable on the court, too, entering half with a 31-28 lead against Iowa State. Robert Brown has a game-high 10 points and the Blazers have forced nine turnovers while grabbing nine offensive rebounds, a perfect recipe for an upset.

1:24 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Another non-basketball note on UAB: All of their players are wearing mismatched sneakers to raise awareness for pediatric cancer. (Photo Courtesy: AL.com)

1:15 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Despite UAB hanging tough with Iowa St., fans still aren't willing to forgive school president Ray Watts, who has himself in some hot water with the student base after disbanding the football program in December.

1:10 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Iowa State could be in some trouble to end the first half. Tied at 21 with 6:08 to play, Georges Niang, Dustin Hogue and Naz Long all have two fouls. It could be a bench-heavy Cyclones lineup trying to enter halftime with a lead. And stuff like this has been happening:

UAB putting on a show early against Iowa State:

1:05 p.m. ET (Murphy) - We've reached halftime in Pittsburgh, with Notre Dame clinging to a 31-27 lead. Jerian Grant has a game-high nine points for the Fighting Irish, and Demetrius Jackson has four points, three rebounds and four assists.

1:02 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Iowa State lost the handle on things a bit and UAB is hanging tough, down 18-16 a bit more than halfway through the first. Robert Brown has eight for the Blazers. Abdel Nader's getting after it on defense for the Cyclones, at least.

Vinnyviner's post on Vine

1:00 p.m. ET (Murphy) - The announcers have said "CAA" about a hundred times about Northeastern. With all this CAA love, you'd think Brian Anderson and Steve Smith were on the Knicks' payroll.

12:51 p.m. ET (Murphy) - "Gorgeous" Georges Niang is cooking early for Iowa State, scoring five points with two rebounds, an assist and a steal in the game's opening five minutes. The Cyclones lead UAB 12-2.

12:49 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Northeastern has hit a couple of tough shots but Notre Dame is making things way too easy on them. They're pressuring the less-capable ball-handlers but that's allowed the Huskies easy entry passes for clean looks inside. It's 22-20 Northeastern with 5:00 to play in the first.

12:45 p.m. ET (Murphy) - David Walker is hitting threes from your living room for the Huskies, keeping them in the mix against Notre Dame at 18-18 late with 6:40 to play in the first half.

12:43 p.m. ET (Murphy) - We're finally into the actual Madness, with multiple games on - and multiple screens now required. Hopefully your remotes and retinas are sufficiently warmed up.

12:32 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Sorry if you're late to the party, but everyone on Twitter has already stolen your bad/lame/snarky joke about upset watches, brackets being busted and not understanding college basketball. You didn't miss anything.

12:23 p.m. ET (Murphy) - The Northeastern mascot is not excited with this 7-3 opening run for Notre Dame.

12:20 p.m. ET (Murphy) - The first basket of March Madness 2015 is a triple and belongs to Northeastern and David Walker.

12:19 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Notre Dame has opted to make anyone with a hangover even more sick to their stomachs with these awful gold jerseys.

12:17 p.m. ET (Murphy) - Northeastern head coach Bill Coen has taken a page out of Jason Kidd's playbook and is going without tie as his Huskies look to upset Notre Dame.
