Kentucky completes regular season 31-0 with win over Florida
Kentucky capped off its first perfect regular season in program history, handling Florida 67-50 on Saturday.
The Wildcats became the first power conference team since Indiana in 1975-76 to complete a perfect regular season.
Freshman forward Karl-Anthony Towns led Kentucky to a 31-0 mark to the tune of 13 points, nine rebounds and six blocks. Trey Lyles added 14 points of his own.
The home crowd roared at the final buzzer as the Wildcat players donned T-shirts reading "31-0, not done yet."
The last time these two schools squared off, the Gators nearly pulled off the upset. But at the time, Kentucky was on the road without Towns, who missed the game with strep throat.
He ended up playing a pivotal role Saturday as his team pulled away late.
Florida was led by Kasey Hill and Dorian Finney-Smith, who scored 15 and 12 points, respectively.
The deciding factor in this game, though, was the Wildcats' bench: paced by Lyles, it outscored the Florida bench 46 to 13.
