Coral Gables, FL - Angel Rodriguez tallied 25 points and five assists to help the Miami-Florida Hurricanes edge the Florida State Seminoles, 81-77, in an ACC matchup at the BankUnited Center.

Sheldon McClellan added 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor for Miami (18-10, 8-7 ACC), while Davon Reed contributed 18 points and eight rebounds. Tonye Jekiri registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Hurricanes notched their third win in four outings.

The Seminoles (15-14, 7-9) suffered their second straight setback despite a terrific showing by Xavier Rathan-Mayes, who finished with a game-high 35 points and five assists. Montay Brandon chimed in with 11 points and five boards for FSU.

Miami took a 29-25 lead into the intermission after it made good on 40 percent of its field goal attempts and outrebounded the visitors, 18-12, in the opening half. The Seminoles were limited to 2-of-8 shooting from 3-point range in the first period.

The Hurricanes managed to build an 18-point lead by the 4:52 mark of the second stanza, but FSU stormed back. Rathan-Mayes poured in 30 of his points after halftime, making 6-of-8 tries from beyond the arc and all but one of his nine shots at the charity stripe. The Seminoles managed to gain control of the ball, trailing by three points with just seconds left in regulation, but Rodriguez committed an intentional foul on Rathan-Mayes to prevent the rookie from attempting a potentially game-tying 3-point attempt. Rathan-Mayes intentionally missed his second free-throw attempt, but the Hurricanes secured the board and Reed put it out of reach with a pair of makes at the charity stripe.

Miami finished with a 37-23 advantage in total rebounds and outscored the Seminoles, 31-19, at the free-throw line.
