Georgia State's Kevin Ware explains motive behind leaving Louisville

A horrific leg injury made Kevin Ware one of the most well-known players on Louisville and, frankly, that recognition made him want out.

Ware, a redshirt junior, has since transferred to Georgia State, but he explained just what pushed him away from his teammates and the team that rallied around him following the 2013 injury.

"It got annoying after a while, and I just really wanted to come home," Ware said of the treatment he got from the team, which made him feel like 'damaged goods,' according to Thomas Lake of Sports Illustrated.

Although Ware went through a series of adverse situations, such as missing the court date for a reckless driving citation and the dismissal of his best friend Chane Behanan, it was the lack of recovery from his coaches and teammates of his injury that affected him the most.

Ware, who remains with a metal rod in his leg and screws in his knee and ankle, continues to focus on getting back to where he was prior to his injury, without being coddled along.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder is averaging 8.5 points and 3.4 rebounds, with 2.1 steals in 29.7 minutes.
