Arizona's Rawle Alkins: Will play through finger ailment Thursday
Alkins has a finger injury but it will not affect his status for Thursday's Sweet Sixteen matchup against Xavier, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Analysis:
According to ESPN's Chantel Jennings, Alkins has both a dislocation and a minor fracture in his right index finger, which was sustained during the team's victory over Saint Mary's. Alkins did leave for a brief period of time, but later returned to the game with the finger taped. The freshman finished the contest with six points on 3-of-7 shooting, but it's difficult to determine whether or not he was affected by the ailment. Alkins admitted some discomfort after Saturday's win, but with four days off, he'll have plenty of time for rest and ice. The 6-5 wing has been a critical component for the Wildcats this year, starting 35 games and averaging 11.1 points on 46.7 percent shooting. Alkins hasn't had to score as much since the return of Allonzo Trier, but adds solid averages of 5.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
