After a disappointing 10-22 season, Duquesne athletic director Dave Harper decided that a change in leadership needed to be made.

Harper announced Monday that head coach Jim Ferry has been relieved of his duties after five seasons with the Dukes. Ferry's tenure with the Dukes was less than spectacular, leading the team to just a 60-94 overall record with his best season coming in the form of a 17-17 campaign in 2015-16.

"In consultation with President Ken Gormley, we have decided to make a change in leadership for the men's basketball program at Duquesne University," Harper said in a statement. "I would like to thank Jim Ferry his efforts and work the last five years. Jim is a great person and we wish him the best with his future endeavors."

Gormley also announced that Harper will be the one to lead the search for Duquesne's next head coach.

Duquesne has not reached the NCAA tournament since 1977, which also marks the only time the Dukes have won a conference championship.
