Kansas' Self: Jackson disciplined internally over vandalism charge

Kansas coach Bill Self stated Friday that star guard Josh Jackson has been disciplined internally after being charged with criminal damage to property.

The charge is a misdemeanor and stems from a December incident in which he and teammate Lagerald Vick allegedly vandalized a woman's car. The apparent victim was previously involved in a domestic violence incident with Vick.

"I know Josh has regrets for his actions in the incident," Self said in a statement Friday afternoon. "He and I both know he could have exercised better judgment for this avoidable situation, but I'm pleased with how he's accepted responsibility. This does not take away from the fact that he has been a great ambassador for this university. He will learn from this incident and be better for it."

Jackson, who's expected to be a lottery pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, is averaging 16.5 points per game for Kansas and is the team's second-leading scorer.

He helped the Jayhawks clinch at least a tie of the Big 12 regular-season crown for a 13th consecutive campaign.

Jackson is expected to be in uniform Saturday when Kansas takes on Texas.
