The first 5 minutes of Florida-South Carolina was a hot mess

Wednesday's matchup between No. 19 Florida and No. 24 South Carolina was a hotly anticipated affair featuring two of the best teams in the SEC.

Then tipoff happened, and viewers were subjected to arguably the worst five minutes of offense this season.

Apparently there was a lid on the baskets in Columbia because the teams combined to miss their first 13 shots on the night. In the first 5:46 of play, the Gators and Gamecocks turned the ball over a whopping 10 times.

The two teams took so long to score any points, that the football contest between the two teams in November produced a faster scoring play than Wednesday's matchup.

A six-yard touchdown pass from Austin Appleby to C'yontai Lewis gave Florida a 7-0 lead over South Carolina just 3:43 into the Nov. 12 SEC matchup this season.

It would take two minutes longer than that scoring play to see points in this one, as Kasey Hill mercifully brought the drought to a close, swiping the ball off Sedee Keita and taking it the length of the court for an easy layup.

South Carolina coach Frank Martin's reaction is a perfect summation of the brutal start to the contest.
