Duke's Allen 'ashamed' of trip, Coach K mum on possible discipline
An emotional Grayson Allen sat in the corner of Duke's locker room after Wednesday's win over Elon and apologized for tripping his third opponent in the last 12 months.
"I made a really bad play," said Allen. "Sorry to him - (Steven) Santa Ana - sorry to the officials who have to call that, sorry to my team. It was selfish and taking away from them. I'm not proud of it at all."

Allen said he's "ashamed" of his third such incident. He was given a technical foul for the trip during the game, a contest the Blue Devils won 72-61.

Allen, who was summoned into a private room to apologize privately to Santa Ana and Elon coach Matt Matheny, was then the topic of conversation in coach Mike Krzyzewski's postgame news conference.
"What Grayson did was unacceptable," he told reporters, according to Stephen Wiseman of The Durham Herald-Sun.
Coach K says he asked Matheny and Santa Ana to meet post game so Allen could apologize. "Hey, I play hard, too," K says Santa Ana said.

Krzyzewski was less decisive about a possible punishment for his star guard, though, and said he won't suspend Allen for the purpose of satisfying the public.

"I handle things the way that I handle them," he said, per Matt Norlander of CBS Sports. "I don't need to satisfy what I think other people think I should do. And I'm a teacher and a coach, and I'm responsible for that kid. So I know him better than anybody. So to think it's the last thing said about this to him is wrong."
Coach K added that Allen was punished by the fact that his actions hurt the team.
"He would die for his team and here he let his team down tonight," he said. "That's a big punishment for him."
