Report: Michigan State transfer Bess spurns Akron for Saint Louis

Tommy Gilligan / USA TODAY Sports

Michigan State transfer Javon Bess has decommitted from Akron and instead committed to Saint Louis, reports Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Bess averaged 11.4 minutes as a sophomore for the Spartans last season to go along with three points and 2.4 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-5 forward missed the majority of the 2014-2015 season due to an injured right foot.

Bess is a former four-star recruit out of Lincoln High School in Ohio who had offers from nine other programs.

The acquisition gives new Saint Louis head coach Travis Ford an additional option on the wing.
