Pitt adds 4-star G Aaron Thompson to 2017 class

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Stallings made a splash for the future at Pitt on Sunday, as the new head coach added four-star guard Aaron Thompson to the 2017 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-1 Virginia native is ranked by ESPN as the 22nd point guard in the 2017 class and the third-best prospect in the state. Thompson received offers from numerous Division I programs, including Georgia Tech, Miami, SMU, and Maryland.

Stallings was recruiting Thompson to play at Vanderbilt while he was the head coach there, and succeeded in bringing him along when he made the move to Pitt earlier this offseason. Thompson should fit in well with sophomore guard Chris Jones, who'll be in his senior season when the recruit hits campus in 2017-18.
