Florida Gulf Coast announced Saturday that a contract extension with head coach Joe Dooley has been reached, the deal runs through the 2019-20 season.

Dooley is coming off his third season with the Eagles, and first appearance in the NCAA tournament. Overall, the 50-year-old has compiled a 65-38 record at Florida Gulf Coast, winning more than 20 games each year.

"Joe has more than earned both the extension and increase in compensation," said athletic director Ken Kavanagh. "He took over the program at a pivotal time and has elevated our overall results since. In turn, we are very excited about our future prospects and already are looking ahead to next season."

In 2015-16, Dooley's team established new school records (since moving into Division I) for points per game, rebounds per game, field goal percentage, and scoring margin.

"This is a terrific opportunity to continue building something really special with a talented group of returners and newcomers," said Dooley, "and I'm looking forward to getting started with the 2016-17 season."
