Kansas' Self compares Josh Jackson to Andrew Wiggins

After putting pen to paper and officially signing with Kansas, Josh Jackson could become the most highly-anticipated freshman to suit up for Bill Self since "Maple Jordan."

"He is very similar to Andrew Wiggins," Self told Adam Zagoria of SportsNet New York. "He's a tall guard that can do a lot of everything. We feel his impact on our program next year will be as much as any freshman will have on any college program."

That's saying something, but there's much to be said about Jackson, who comes to Lawrence with as much hype as any Kansas prospect since Wiggins.

ESPN's No. 2 overall recruit in the nation possesses freakish athleticism, similar to Wiggins, which he translated to 26.9 points per game as a senior at Prolific Prep.

"He's extremely athletic," Self said of Jackson, "but more importantly extremely competitive. We have a very competitive culture at Kansas but I think it just got improved with the signing of Josh. He's a guy that everybody enjoys playing with because he is so unselfish but also a guy that can take a game over."

The comparison between Jackson and Wiggins extends off the court as well, with the two even sharing a physical resemblance. Both players possess wiry builds, with Jackson listed at 6-foot-7, 195 pounds, and a freshman Wiggins listed at 6-foot-8, 200 pounds.

Though the ride was bumpy at times, Wiggins still finished his lone year at Kansas with 17.1 points per game, and broke the school's single-season scoring record for a freshman.
