Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Danrad Knowles scored 16 points, leading five players in double figures, as the Houston Cougars crushed the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 77-55, in an American Athletic Conference battle at Hofheinz Pavilion.

Knowles, who shot 6-of-8 from the floor, also pulled down eight rebounds and blocked four shots for the Cougars (11-7, 3-2 AAC) as they snapped a two-game slide. Danuel House pitched in with 14 points and six rebounds off the bench, while fellow reserve Jherrod Stiggers tacked on 11 points. TaShawn Thomas and Brandon Morris delivered 12 points apiece, followed by L.J. Rose with nine points and a team-best eight assists.

The Scarlet Knights (8-10, 2-3) were led by Myles Mack with 15 points and Kadeem Jack with 10 and nine rebounds as the squad bowed for the third time in four tries.

Houston converted just 13 field goals in the first half, but six of those came from 3-point range as the team moved out to a 35-28 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Cougars boosted their field goal accuracy to 53.3 percent and at the same time limited the visitors to a mere 24.4 percent, making it that much easier to cruise to the lopsided win.

Rutgers finished the day shooting only 31.2 percent from the field and 1-of-10 on the perimeter.
