Iverson regrets talking about practice

After everything Allen Iverson has accomplished, one infamous rant will always follow him.

His 2002 "Practice?!" press conference has become as synonymous with Iverson as his famed crossovers of Michael Jordan, Antonio Daniels, and (most disrespectfully) Tyronn Lue.

When asked about the tirade following Monday's Hall of Fame announcement, Iverson tried to explain the factors that shaped his mood that day.

He had arrived hoping to quash trade rumors and proclaim his love for Philadelphia, but instead found reporters focused on the fact he missed a practice.

"If you woulda said something about 'lasagna' at that point, I would have kept saying 'lasagna.' I was already on edge," Iverson said, according to CSN Philly's Enrico Campitelli. "I was already mad because ... no, first of all I was happy. I thought the press conference was going to be happy. All I thought I was doing was coming and telling Philadelphia that I wasn't going anywhere. Now I can blame you."

Iverson said the quotes continue to dog him to this day and he resents how they overshadow some of his other achievements.

"I wish I could take it back. My kids tease me about it," he said. "It makes me so mad. I'm a Hall of Famer and I can go outside today and go to a restaurant or wherever and somebody will come up to me and say, 'Practice? We talkin' bout practice?!' Man, I am a Hall of Famer and that's all you can think about?"
