Jimmy Butler responds to trade rumour: 'I don't plan on going anywhere'

If it's up to him, Jimmy Butler will remain a member of the Chicago Bulls.

Following Chicago's 103-100 win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday night, Butler was asked about reports that indicated he could potentially be traded during the offseason. Butler responded by simply stating his goal is to stay with the Bulls and start piling up the victories.

"That's why I'm here," Butler told ESPN.com. "I don't plan on going anywhere. I can't control what everybody else does. I know that this is the city that I love, Chicago. And I want to wear that jersey. I want to wear that name on the front, and I wear it proudly. All I got to do is continue to control what I can control. That's try to help this team win games."

Butler, averaging career-highs with 21 points and 4.4 assists this season, signed a five-year, $90-million contract this past July and made his second straight all-star game in February. The team, though, has struggled and is in the midst of fighting for its playoff life.

While the rumors may be out there, Bulter says he's not allowing them to seep into his personal sphere and instead only worries about that which he can control.

"To tell you the truth, I don't pay attention to the rumors," Butler said. "Somebody sent (the story) to me today, and I just clicked off of it. I mean, why am I getting in (to the speculation)? I can't control it. I can't say don't do this or don't do that. That's not my job. If I do what I'm supposed to do on the floor, then everything else takes care of itself. I'm a firm believer in that."
