Lowry ejected vs. Rockets after being baited by Beverley
It's safe to say Toronto Raptors All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry won't be remembering his 30th birthday very fondly in the future.
Not only did his team lose consecutive games for the first time since Feb. 10 on Friday night in a 112-109 defeat to the Houston Rockets, but Lowry found himself heading to the locker room before the final buzzer even sounded.
After airing out his grievances with a nearby official, Rockets guard Patrick Beverley stepped in and appeared to acknowledge what Lowry was saying under his breath as he walked away. That was enough to warrant an ejection with 25.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter with the Raptors trailing by five points.
Lowry ended the evening with 15 points and eight assists in 41 minutes, although he didn't shoot the rock particularly well, converting 4-of-19 shots from the field and 4-of-9 from the charity stripe.
Teammate DeMar DeRozan was ejected from the game earlier in the quarter after complaining a no-call around the basket.
The Raptors fall to 48-23, and remain one win away from tying the franchise record for victories in a season.
