With at least $18 million in cap space, it should come as no surprise the New York Knicks are expected to be active in the free-agency market this summer.

After whiffing on a number of big names in recent years, however, New York may look to add several second-tier free agents instead.

Evan Turner is one player whom the Knicks are expected to make a run at, Chris Mannix of CSN New England reports. Phil Jackson is reportedly a "big fan" of Turner, who would significantly strengthen his team's guard depth.

With Arron Afflalo set to become a free agent if he declines his $8-million player option, the Knicks would likely need to find his replacement on the open market, as they currently don't have any first-round picks.

The second pick of the 2010 draft, Turner has performed well during the past two seasons in Boston. The 27-year-old is averaging 9.7 points, five rebounds, and five assists with the Celtics, while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor - his best stretch as a pro.

The Ohio State product averages 10.7 points and 5.2 rebounds over 458 career games in the NBA.
