Celtics' Stevens says Crowder will miss 'a couple of weeks' with ankle sprain

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics will be without Jae Crowder for approximately two weeks, according to head coach Brad Stevens. Crowder suffered a high ankle sprain in Friday's loss to the Houston Rockets.

Losing the scrappy forward for any prolonged period is a significant blow to the Celtics, who are hanging on to third place in the East by a small margin over the Miami Heat and Charlotte Hornets.

Crowder had played in 164 straight contests dating back to 2013-14. The combo forward, who has found his groove since arriving in Boston in last season's Rajon Rondo trade, is having a career year in scoring (14.4 points per game), rebounding (5.1), and 3-point shooting (34.8 percent).
