Report: Durant not considering Knicks as free-agent destination

Much ink has been spilled over the course of this NBA season speculating about where Oklahoma City Thunder superstar and impending free agent Kevin Durant might like to go (if anywhere) this summer.

That speculation, though, hasn't gotten us any closer to figuring out Durant's plans, so maybe a different approach is in order, like working backward and trying to find an answer through process of elimination. So, where doesn't Durant want to go?

To the New York Knicks, apparently.

Playing in the league's largest market typically means drawing at least cursory interest from star free agents, but a source told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News that Durant doesn't, at present, view the Knicks as a realistic destination this summer.

New York, for all its big-city allure, has failed to ink a big-ticket free agent since signing Amar'e Stoudemire in 2010.

Durant recently expressed surprise and dismay at the Knicks' decision to fire their head coach - and Durant's friend and former Thunder teammate - Derek Fisher just over a month ago.

"This league, it don't matter what your record is nowadays," Durant said. "You still get fired. I don't know who's doing it deep in the organization internally. Record doesn't matter anymore if you're a coach. Fish did a great job."
