Mavs' Harris without timetable for return from toe sprain

Devin Harris has been in street clothes for the past two weeks, and he has no notion of when he'll be able to put his uniform back on.

The Dallas Mavericks point guard is dealing with a pesky big toe sprain on his left foot, which will cost him a seventh straight game Friday night when the Mavs take on the San Antonio Spurs.

"I'm hanging in there," Harris said at shootaround Friday, according to Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I really don't have a timetable (for a return."

Harris had surgery on a different toe in his left foot in the summer of 2014, and he visited the same specialist who performed the surgery Thursday.

"I've got everything I needed - he gave me some options," Harris said. "We're trying the first option, which is less aggressive than the second option.

"And if it works, great, and if not, then we've got to move on and try something else. I'm on a different set of medication, and hopefully I can kind of take care of the problem that I'm having."

Harris can't seem to rid himself of the pain in the toe, or handle any pressure on his foot.

"It's more nerve in the toe than the actual bone itself, so any time I put a shoe and any time there's pressure, I have pain and I’m unable to push off," he said. "I'm doing some things to kind of hopefully calm that pain down, and the sooner that happens the sooner I can play."

The 32-year-old is averaging 7.4 points, 2.1 assists, and a steal in 40 games this season.
