Kobe spent night before 81-point game eating pizza, drinking grape soda
Friday marks the 10th anniversary of Kobe Bryant's historic 81-point outburst against the Toronto Raptors. In an oral history by ESPN's Arash Markazi, Bryant mentions what he did the day and night before his record-setting game.
So we had a birthday party (for my daughter Natalia) at the house the day before the game where we had family and friends come over. It was a great day with face painting and all that stuff. That night, I had my therapist come over and work on my knee because my knee was really giving me a lot of problems. So I had my knee worked on and ordered a pepperoni pizza with grape soda. I finished it that night.
Bryant actually disclosed this nugget three years ago while live-tweeting a rebroadcast of the game on NBA TV.
Youthful metabolism!! I'm fresh of pepperoni pizza and grape soda! #countonkobe

Youthful metabolism indeed for the then-27-year-old. Nowadays, the senior citizen by basketball standards imbibes bone broth soup.
