Report: Knicks' Cleanthony Early won't require knee surgery after being shot

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Cleanthony Early of the New York Knicks won't need to go under the knife after being shot in the knee following a robbery outside of a Queens strip club on Wednesday morning, according to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.

MRI results revealed no structural damage. Doctors will clean up his wound to prevent further infection, with the bullet having gone right through his leg without being lodged.

Early - who remains in hospital - has a recovery timetable of 6-to-12 weeks, which can changed based on how well his rehab goes, Charania reports.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:15 a.m. ET after Early and his girlfriend, Iliani Douge, departed the CityScapes gentlemen's club. While in an Uber vehicle, the couple was then surrounded by three other cars wherein a group of assailants donning ski masks emerged to rob Early of a gold necklace and his gold teeth caps, according to the New York Daily News.

Early is averaging 0.7 points in a little over three minutes per game in 10 appearances for the 15-18 Knicks.
