No Nene again for Wizards; Anderson resumes on-court activity

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Nene will miss his third straight game Wednesday when the Washington Wizards host the Los Angeles Lakers. The Brazilian power forward is dealing with a calf injury suffered Friday against the Boston Celtics.

The oft-injured big man - who's played a full 82-game slate only once in his 14-year career - also missed a game earlier this season due to back issues.

In other Wizards news, swingman Alan Anderson was scheduled to take part in on-court activity Wednesday for the first time since left ankle surgery in October. It's a significant development in the 33-year-old's recovery, and he's expected to be able to return to action later this month.

The Wizards have been playing shorthanded for the last few games, but still managed to hand the Cleveland Cavaliers their first home loss of the season Tuesday.
