Bargnani will play without minute restriction in Nets' opener

The Brooklyn Nets will have center Andrea Bargnani available and fully healthy for their season opener Wednesday.

Bargnani is ready for Brooklyn's tilt against the Chicago Bulls and will not be subject to a minute restriction, Newsday's Rod Boone reports.

Bargnani had been sidelined for most of preseason and training camp with a tight hamstring. That came on the heels of an injured calf in September that held him out of playing with the Italians in EuroBasket 2015.

Injuries are nothing new for Bargnani, who has never played a full season across his nine-year career. The first overall pick from the 2006 NBA Draft has lengthy history of arm and leg injuries.

Bargnani, however, is trying to buck that trend in Brooklyn. After an embarrassing stay with the crosstown New York Knicks, Bargnani is looking for a fresh start as a backup big in the borough.

The 7-footer signed a two-year deal at the veteran's minimum this summer. He averaged 14.8 points on 45.4 percent shooting across 29 appearances last season.
