Warriors file motion to dismiss lawsuit brought against them by Stubhub

The Golden State Warriors have filed a motion to dismiss the case brought against them and Ticketmaster by Stubhub nearly two months ago, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell.

The Warriors, who filed the motion on Friday, argue that their agreement with Ticketmaster should not be seen as an unfair restraint of trade, as Stubhub is suing the team and Ticketmaster for creating a monopoly in the resale ticket market.

Stubhub's suit alleges that the Warriors informed season ticket holders they would have their ticket privileges revoked if they sold their tickets through any party other than Ticketmaster's NBATickets.com exchange.

The Warriors, according to Rovell, believe they have the right to dictate how fans can sell their tickets because "a ticket is a revocable license, and a licensor has long been permitted to impose restrictions on its licensees."

In addition, the team argues that tickets to Warriors game do not make up the entire entertainment marketplace, and that Stubhub had an opportunity to become the Warriors' official resale partner in a bid two years ago.

The Warriors, who finished the regular season with a league-best 67 wins, are up 3-0 on the Houston Rockets in their Western Conference Final series, moving within a win of the franchise's first Finals appearance in 40 years.
