Wizards' Beal on NBA title pick: 'I hope nobody wins. I’m a sore loser'

If the Washington Wizards can't win the NBA Championship, then no one can. At least, that's how Wizards' guard Bradley Beal wishes things were.

Beal told the media during his exit interview that he doesn't want any of the remaining teams in the NBA Playoffs - the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors or Atlanta Hawks - to walk away with the Larry O'Brien trophy this year.

The Wizards were bounced from the second round of the postseason by the Hawks, their fate sealed with a 94-91 Game 6 loss that saw Paul Pierce's game-tying three-pointer released just after the final buzzer.

"In my opinion, we should’ve won 4-1," said Beal on Monday, according to Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post.

Teammate John Wall missed three games in the series after sustaining fractures in both his hand and wrist during Game 1. Wall believes the complexion of the series would have changed had he been completely healthy.

"I’m a big key to this team," he said. "This team can still do great things without me. Those guys competed and gave themselves a chance to win. But I feel like if I was there we would have had a better opportunity of winning the series and probably could have went up 2-0 on the road like the Toronto series and came home with some momentum, and tried to close these guys out. But everything happens for a reason."

Beal did his best to compensate for Wall's absence, averaging 23.6 points per game with the two-time NBA All-Star on the sidelines.

It ultimately wasn't enough, as the Hawks moved on for an Eastern Conference Finals matchup with the Cavaliers - a series Beal likely won't pay much attention to.
