Knicks, Magic combine for 15 points in second quarter, set NBA record for scoring futility

Reinhold Matay / USA TODAY Sports

It was a quarter to forget for both the New York Knicks and the Orlando Magic.

The two teams combined for just 15 points in the second quarter of their game on Saturday, connecting on a combined 6-for-39 from the field and just three free throws. Their putrid output set an NBA low for combined points in a quarter.

Conversely, the quarter also tied a lofty defensive record for the Knicks, as Orlando's seven points were tied for the fewest points allowed in a quarter in franchise history.
